J. Brown comes to town

Ikea is a very dangerous place. I came very close to coming home with closet crafters, a stainless steel sink and 10 bags of Swedish meatballs. Luckily Jordan was there to remind me that no I did not own a home and really should put some items back. Instead, Jordan and I designed our future shared beach home room by room. If only we had some funds to make this dream a reality!

Damage done:
1 TV stand (we may have upgraded our TV just in time for the Olympics)
1 bathmat
2 $0.99 lint rollers (a deal I couldn't refuse!)

After recovering from our Ikea adventure we hit the tennis courts by my apartment for a friendly competition. Jordan may or may not be crying in the photo below. I'll let you decide who came out on top.

I think I'm almost ready for Rio 2016.

Color Run Race Recap

Logistics aside this was a really fun race! There was no shortage of color, that's for sure.  I brought along my "adventure" camera and got some great shots along the way.

Lessons learned from this race:
1. Arriving early to races usually pays off, unless the race actually starts 30 minutes later than every e-mails states. In which case this extra time is perfect for an extra 2 mile warm up run.
2. 11,000 people is A LOT of people.
3. Practicing extreme patience can be quite difficult at times.

I hope you all had a great weekend and were able to watch lots of Olympic events!

Back to Reality

Going back to work on Monday was definitely a HUGE reality check. Not only did I return to a full inbox, but I also started working 10 hour days. This is part of "summer hours" in which I can work 4 10 hour days and get an extra day off each week (today)!

On top of these long days, running, and a new strength training program I've promised I'll complete three days a week, there hasn't been much time for adventuring. However there has been a lot of breakfast for dinner, leafy greens, and bacon thanks to a ginormous grocery run that happened Sunday.

Happy Thursday friends, it's almost the weekend!

Sunny Sunday

Yesterday was filled with sunshine, smiles and ssss...dinosaurs!
After a return to outdoor boot camp (so hard after missing just one weekend!) Drew, Mary and I visited the SoWa Open Market in the South End on Sunday morning. It was my first time to the market and I will definitely be going back again soon! We treated ourselves to some food cart sandwiches (Lefty's Silver Cart), new beads, and checked out the vintage tent as well!

Last night Drew and I went to see Colin speak about his Awesome Foundation project at the coolest 3rd birthday party ever (it was DINOSAUR themed)!!!! I wore my dinosaur necklace just for the occasion.

I hope you all had a great weekend, and Monday too for that matter.

To Gloucester, to Gloucester

To celebrate Caitlin's last weekend in New England, we took a trip to Gloucester, MA. On the way up north we made sure to stop at Woodman's in Essex, MA. It claims to have the best seafood in New England and I'd say their lobster roll was one of the best I've had in a long time!

After our lunch stop we made our way on to Gloucester where we walked along the harbor, toured some peers, and had a lesson in deep sea diving!

After dropping Caitlin off at the airport this afternoon I realized that staycation is actually about to come to a close. I'm heading back to work on Monday and although I'm looking forward to returning to my regular routine, I will be very sad for this week to be over. To celebrate the last day of staycation I'll be getting up early to watch the final stage of the Tour de France and fully in enjoy the final day with zero commitments!

Race Pictures

Oh, just some really attractive pictures of me crossing the finish line in last week's race. That's the face of pure exhaustion right there! I am still trying to decide if I've officially become a mid-foot striker.

What do you think?

Le Tour de Boston

Last night Caitlin and I headed out to the Back Bay for a tour de Boston. The plan was to head to different locations for appetizers, entrees, and dessert.

We started the evening with drinks at the Red Lantern (Adele made a visit here last year).

After drinks we headed to The Salty Pig for appetizers and dinner.
For a starter we paired the Sopressata from Fra' Mani, CA with some Chevrot from Poitou-Charentes, FRA (perfect for a Tour de France inspired evening) and topped it off with some fig jam. The spread came with some delicious pickles and spicy mustard as well. We were very much pleased with our choices on this one!

For the main course we opted for the highly recommended Prosciutto di Parma pizza. I'll let the pictures do the talking on this one.

We finished the night off with dessert at The Beehive on Tremont St.
We chose to split the cheesecake and were very glad we did! Just look at that slice

All in all it was a very successful evening full of delicious food and drink! Today we're headed off to New Hampshire for a birthday bash and beach day!

Happy Friday y'all.
